Botan City is a city in the region of Rijon. It has no Pokémon Center, because its people see them as unnatural. Flying into the city will deliver the player outside the Pokémon Mart. In Pokémon Prism however, there is a secret Pokémon Center.
The Haunted forest is an area containing wild pokémon and trainers. It is accessible in all three games via a gatehouse north of the city.
If the player visits Botan City before clearing the Silph Warehouse, the city will be full of Rocket members. One of them will be blocking the entrance to the Haunted Forest (the house in the very north of the city). Once Giovanni is defeated at the Warehouse, the Rockets will leave and the player can enter the Haunted Forest.
Mr. Rumiko is a nice person, like Mr. Fuji, and his house is full of Pokémon. It is just below the entrance to the Haunted Forest, the only other house with a door that the player can enter until they have Surf.
He is absent until the player rescues him in the Haunted Forest, at which point he brings the player back to his house and gives them the Pokéflute. However, the Virus Scan is required to do this.
This cave appears only in Brown, being later replaced by the railway to Naljo. It contains several NPC miners who make reference to this. One of them gives the player a Red Orb, which can be exchanged for TM30 (Shadow Ball) on the rooftop of the Southland Mall.
Although there are no trainers, there are wild pokémon, many of which are originally from the Johto region.
To the east of the city is a house which requires Surf to be reached. Inside, two NPCs will offer to trade.
A man will trade his Tyrogue for the player's Butterfree
A woman will trade her Eevee for the player's Gligar. This eevee will evolve into Leafeon on leveling up.

Botan City reappears in Prism, and is the first place in Naljo that can be visited. However, the player is unable to leave it and enter the rest of Rijon until they defeat the Rijon League, due to the city being quarantined.
The east side of the city is kept separate from the rest and requires Surf to access. Here, there is a secret Pokémon Center, and a Pachisi Hall.
Botan City PokéMart
The Magnet train station is in the south-west of the city, and can take the player to Torenia City in Naljo without cost or pass.
There is a Pachisi Hall on the hidden east side of the city behind the Pokémon Center, and it requires Cut to access. It costs 2000 per game, and within it the player can potentially win money, lose money, earn items and battle/catch wild Pokémon.
