Castro Gym is the gym located in the south of Castro Valley. It is a fighting-type gym, and its leader is either Koji or Ginta.

Pokémon Brown[]

Castro Gym is the fifth gym that the player challenges in Rijon. Defeating the leader, Koji, and earning the Fist badge allows the use of Surf outside of battle.

The Gym consists of seven identical trainers, one of whom is Koji. However, he is relatively easy to spot, as he is the only trainer that cannot make eye contact with the player and initiate battle (second from the left, at the top). By walking up the left side of the Gym and speaking with him directly, it is possible to skip all of the preceding trainer battles.

Castro Gym is the first gym in Rijon that the player is able to challenge.

As in Brown, Koji is the leader, and once again all trainers in the Gym look identical. However, all four of them constantly move on the spot, and none initiate battle through eye contact, requiring the player to interact with each of them in turn. The three disguised trainers will change appearance before they begin a battle.

Koji is the trainer furthest to the right. The other gym trainers are listed below in order from south to north.
