Gyms

Gyms are places where the player can battle a Gym Leader to earn a Badge. Gym Leaders are tough, unique trainers, and the badge awarded by defeating them allows the player to do things such as use certain HM moves outside of battle.

Most gym leaders specialize in a specific type of Pokémon, and their gyms often contain a number of trainers that the player must defeat before attempting to win the badge. A gym may also include a puzzle or trial that the player must first complete.

All three games in the Rijon series feature the gyms in Rijon, though the leaders may vary depending on the game.

Note: Although the Jaeru Gym badge is listed before the Moraga Gym badge in the player's profile, Lois's Pokémon are at a lower level than Sparky's, and Moraga Town is reached by the player before Jaeru City. However, the two gyms are close to each other and can be challenged in either order.

The leader level of the Naljo gyms is in the order they are listed above. However they gyms in Rijon and Johto can be challenged in any order: although certain locations are blocked until the player reaches other locations, the gyms do not need to be defeated for the player to progress. The Kanto and Tunod gyms only have one requirement to be reached (defeating Whitney and obtaining 8 Rijon badges respectively).

Each gym leader has Pokémon at different levels, forming a rough order in which they can be most easily challenged.
