Hayward City is a large city in the west of Rijon. It has no gym, but a large PokéMart and access to many routes.

Hayward City is contains the Southland Mall and a lab where fossils can be revived. The entrance to the Final Dungeon is also located here, though it cannot be accessed until after the player has defeated the Elite Four at the Rijon League.

Geek's Lab[]
Fossil Pokémon can be revived here. After giving the fossil, the scientist will claim that he needs Eagulou sand to finish the process. The player just needs to walk in Eagulou City to "collect" the sand, then fly back to Hayward City to get the Pokémon. Another scientist wants to trade a Lapras for a Clefairy.
Final Dungeon[]

The entrance to the Final Dungeon is blocked until the player defeats the Elite Four. In the 2004 version of Pokémon Brown, Bill's house is here instead.
Superstitious Guy's house[]

This house can only be reached via Eagulou City and the Rijon Tunnel, as it is separated from the rest of the city by a ledge. The NPC inside gives the player HM04 (Strength) in exchange for the Red Amulet. The Mist Stone is also found here, but requires the use of Strength to reach.

A local girl gives the Town Map, and a Rocket Grunt nearby drops TM28 (Dig) after battle.

In Prism, Hayward City is accessed via Silk Tunnel and Route 63. Arriving here opens up the Naljo Border access to Route 64.
The fossil lab is now a paleontoseismology lab studying earthquakes, but the Southland Mall is still present. The entrance to the Final Dungeon no longer exists, with Palette Blue there instead, who can be battled. The town sign has been covered in graffiti and can no longer be read.

Egg Appraiser[]
In the house blocked by a ledge and reached via the Rijon Tunnel is a man who will appraise key item eggs to see if they contain a legendary Pokémon. Bringing him the Silver or Gold Egg will earn the player a Lugia or Ho-Oh. Other eggs (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald) will prompt a message that they do not contain a Pokémon.
