Location ![]() Location of Laurel Forest in Naljo. |
Laurel Forest is an area that connects Route 76 to Torenia City. Eevee can evolve into Leafeon in this area.
Before the player can challenge Brooklyn at Laurel Gym, they must go to Laurel Forest. Brooklyn's Totodile has been stolen and the player must rescue it. This requires visiting a part of the forest only accessible to Pokémon, by sending one of their own Pokémon to explore the area.
Main Area[]
The forest does not have any special requirements before it can be explored. However, the southern path is blocked by an NPC until the player has been to the Magikarp Cavern. Both trainers are located south of there.
To the east of the main area, a Clefairy prevents the player from going any further. However, they can send the first Pokémon in their party and navigate around the forest that way. A rest house just before this point contains a PC, which the player can use to swap out and heal (by depositing and withdrawing) the Pokémon in their party.
To the south of the forest is the exit gatehouse, which leads to Torenia City.

Pokémon Only Area[]
In this area, Pokémon cannot be captured, and the only items available are ones that are picked up while exploring here. Certain parts of the forest have switches or puzzles, which may require different abilities. The player may have to return to the entrance and try again with a different Pokémon. Any items collected will still be accessible with the new Pokémon.
Aside from the main Pokémon Only Area, there are three other, smaller areas.
- The Beach Area is accessed via the lower beach with the Pikachu, and contains several Pokémon, a berry tree and a mysterious switch. The Wartortle, when spoken to, will challenge the player to a battle. If the switch is pressed, the configuration of the water will change.
- The Charizard Den is the cave above the lake, and reaching it requires blocking the water at the beach with two Giant Rocks (see the Item table below for their locations). The player needs to block the water in order to progress and find the Totodile, although exploration of the Den itself is optional. Inside is a ladder leading upwards, which is blocked by a boulder that one of the Charizards inside will move when spoken to. There is also a small cave, blocked by a rock requiring Rock Smash.
- The Scientists' Lab is in the north of the forest, blocked by a brainwashed lvl65 Charizard.

Finding Brooklyn's Totodile requires reaching the lab. For this, three Curo Shards are needed, crystals collected by the Pokémon of the forest. Once the player collects the Curo Shards and cures the brainwashed Charizard, they are able to confront the Scientists and rescue the Totodile. The Charizard can also can be battled, but is considerably stronger than the player. However, if it *is* defeated, the player can progress without curing it.
After getting past the Charizard, the player can access the building behind it and battle the Scientists inside. Defeating both of them will grant access to the room beyond, where Brooklyn's Totodile is hiding.
Items[]
Finding the Curo Shards[]
To collect the Curo Shards and progress, the player must complete at least three out of four small quests, as there are four possible shards to find, but only three are needed.
- A Butterfree in the center of the forest is missing her child Caterpie, which can be found in the south-west. Talking to them will cause Caterpie to join your party, and talking to the Butterfree will return them to her and reward the player with a Curo Shard. While in the party, the Caterpie can fight and even evolve, resulting in different dialogue from them once returned home.
- A Pikachu on the lower beach wants a Burnt Berry to eat. Oran Berries can be found in the forest, and these can be changed to Burnt Berries by lighting a fire on the flammable stump in the upper center of the forest (this requires a Fire-type Pokémon or move). Alternatively, if the player sends a Pikachu, the Pikachu will join your party and the player can take it to a berry tree for it to gnaw on the roots. Once fed, the Pikachu will reward the player with a Curo Shard.
- Inside the Charizard Den on the upper floor. Similar to the Beach Area, pressing switches will change the layout of the water between two different configurations. By pressing each switch they come across, the player can reach an item ball containing a Curo Shard. Pressing another switch will open up a hole in the ground for the player to fall through and return to the entrance.
- In the north-west of the area is a maze, with a couple of items inside. A Curo Shard is found in the left side of the maze.
Other Items[]
Most of these are required for quests inside the forest, and have no use outside of it.

Trivia[]
- The beta music in this area was a remix of Dragon Quest's overworld music. In the final version, it is an 8bit version of Pokemon Diamond's Eterna Forest.
- Pikachu being helpful in this forest varies in each version of Prism.
- The two Bug Catchers named Lenny and Carl may be a reference to the "Simpsons" characters of the same names.
