Laurel Gym cannot be challenged until Leader Brooklyn's Totodile has been rescued from Laurel Forest.

After defeating Brooklyn, her Totodile will run out of the gym after the player and join their party.

Once the player has the Charm Badge, HM04 Strength can be used outside of battle.
